Supermarket POS · Getting started
Set up a supermarket POS catalogue and stock
Catalogue accuracy drives checkout and stock accuracy. Complete setup with authorized retail and stores staff before importing or posting opening stock.
Updated
Define categories, brands and units
Use consistent names and decide the base unit for each product. Avoid creating near-duplicate categories or units.
Create products and packages
Record the product identity, selling packages, barcodes and prices. Test that each barcode produces the intended item and quantity.
Configure branches and warehouses
Confirm where stock is held and which till or branch sells it. Do not post stock to a generic location if the business needs branch-level truth.
Post controlled opening stock
Count and approve opening quantities for a defined date. Use the supported opening process rather than editing balances later.
Run checkout and stock tests
Sell a single unit and a package, process a supported return and confirm the resulting stock movement and receipt.
Before you finish
- Barcodes are unique and tested.
- Package quantities and prices are approved.
- Opening stock has a source count and date.
- Sensitive cost and price access is restricted.
